Job Description:
Lead training and enablement for FSA's enterprise automated-testing capability, helping application teams adopt testing tools, standards, test-data practices, performance testing, release-readiness practices, and troubleshooting techniques. This position supports Avyanna Technologies' work with the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid (FSA), Automated Testing Teams (ATT) program. The position is anticipated and contingent upon contract award, funding, and final staffing needs.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and deliver practical training for engineers, QA specialists, product managers, delivery leads, release stakeholders, and other users of enterprise testing capabilities.
- Deliver live or recorded training sessions, workshops, demonstrations, and office hours at least monthly or as agreed with the Government.
- Develop onboarding guides, reference implementations, reusable templates, sample tests, starter repositories, CI/CD examples, configuration guides, troubleshooting documentation, and support materials.
- Teach automated-testing practices, enterprise tooling, test-case development standards, test-data patterns, performance testing, release-readiness expectations, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Partner with technical SMEs to keep training accurate as tooling, standards, architectures, and operating practices evolve.
- Use adoption metrics, participant feedback, training completion data, and recurring support needs to continuously improve enablement content and delivery.
- Support application-team onboarding and document adopted tooling, test suites, pipeline integrations, test-data approaches, standards status, known gaps, and recommended next steps.
- Own training, adoption, and knowledge-transfer documentation, including Confluence-based guidance, onboarding materials, reusable examples, and self-service resources.
- Track training completion, adoption metrics, participant feedback, and customer-satisfaction results and provide accurate inputs for Government performance reporting.
- Coordinate Application Team Onboarding Packages documenting adopted tooling, test suites, pipeline integrations, test-data approaches, standards compliance, known gaps, and recommended next steps.
- Support transition and knowledge-transfer activities so ATT practices, tooling, and operational guidance remain sustainable and reusable.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 6+ years of relevant professional experience aligned to the responsibilities and technical scope of this role.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, Instructional Design, Communications, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver technical training, enablement, documentation, or hands-on workshops for engineering or technology audiences.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to audiences with different levels of technical depth.
- Working knowledge of modern automated testing, CI/CD, test data, performance testing, release readiness, and troubleshooting practices sufficient to coordinate accurate training with technical SMEs.
- Experience creating reusable technical learning materials such as onboarding guides, demonstrations, reference examples, runbooks, job aids, or self-service documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to use learner feedback, adoption data, and stakeholder needs to improve training and enablement programs.
- Deliver measurable outcomes in complex environments: proven ability to take ownership and deliver high-quality results where priorities, requirements, and system constraints evolve.
- Collaborate effectively across disciplines: demonstrated success working cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, security, and other stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Communicate complex concepts with clarity: ability to clearly document, present, and explain technical and non-technical work, including tradeoffs, risks, and implementation considerations, to diverse audiences.
- Operate effectively in large-scale, mission-critical systems: demonstrated contributions to building, operating, or modernizing large-scale systems with high standards of reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Maintain a strong end-user orientation: consistently considers the impact of decisions on end users and system stakeholders, including when working on backend, data, platform, or infrastructure components.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the federal background investigation and suitability determination required for the position, including Public Trust eligibility.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience delivering technical training in federal or other large-scale public-sector environments is preferred.
- Experience developing technical enablement content, onboarding packages, knowledge bases, workshops, office hours, and adoption metrics is preferred.
- Relevant instructional design, technical training, Agile, ITIL, cloud, testing, or DevSecOps certifications are preferred.
Location
Primarily remote. Ad hoc onsite work may be required at FSA in Washington, DC based on project needs.
Salary Range
$70,000-$80,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, technical expertise, contractual requirements, and internal equity.
