Technical Writer I (Automotive Service Information)
Location: Warren, MI (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Flexible Start Time)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid after training (Onsite Tuesday–Thursday, Remote Monday & Friday)
Position Overview
We are seeking an Automotive Technical Writer to support the development and validation of published mechanical service procedures. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Mechanical Service Information Development teams, Labor Time Technicians, and Shop Foremen to create accurate labor time studies and ensure service procedures are properly documented, validated, and optimized.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive technician who enjoys technical documentation, process improvement, and working with engineering and service teams to produce high-quality service information.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is an experienced automotive technician with deep mechanical knowledge who is looking to transition into a technical writing environment.
Candidates should have experience working across a wide variety of vehicle systems—not just routine maintenance. Those with extensive engine, transmission, and drivetrain experience will be especially successful in this role.
Candidates without meaningful hands-on automotive repair experience are unlikely to be a fit for this position.
