Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Technical Writer with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension. This is a hybrid position.
Pay:$28.00 - $33.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
Description:
The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining engineering and technical documentation that supports utility operations, engineering programs, standards, procedures, and projects. This role partners closely with engineers and technical subject matter experts to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation, including engineering procedures, standards, specifications, work instructions, and process documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, project teams, and subject matter experts to gather and validate technical content.
Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
Ensure consistency, accuracy, formatting, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Manage document revisions, version control, and approval workflows.
Review existing documentation and recommend improvements for clarity and usability.
Support knowledge management initiatives and documentation libraries.
Develop, edit, and maintain NERC compliance procedures and supporting documentation to ensure alignment with applicable NERC Reliability Standards
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of technical writing experience supporting engineering, utility, industrial, manufacturing, or other technical organizations.
Experience developing technical procedures, specifications, standards, and work instructions.
Strong technical editing, proofreading, and document control skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
Ability to work directly with engineers and technical subject matter experts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting electric utility, energy, transmission, distribution, or engineering organizations.
Familiarity with engineering drawings, technical standards, and regulatory documentation.
Experience with document control, quality systems, and version management processes.
Familiarity with NERC FAC, MOD, TPL, and CIP Reliability standards
