Job Title: Technical Writer

Job Description

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Technical Writer to create clear, accurate, and engaging technical documentation while leveraging modern AI tools to enhance content quality and productivity. You will work closely with Quality, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Support teams to develop and maintain high-quality documentation for internal audiences in a dynamic aerospace environment. The position suits someone who combines strong writing skills with technical aptitude and hands-on experience using generative AI platforms to streamline documentation workflows and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical documentation, including procedures, work instructions, forms, templates, and guidance documents.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts across Quality, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Support to gather and validate technical information.
  • Utilize AI-powered writing and research tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or similar platforms, to accelerate drafting, editing, summarization, and content organization while maintaining technical accuracy and consistency.
  • Review AI-generated content to ensure correctness, completeness, and compliance with established documentation standards and style guidelines.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain documentation templates, style guides, and content governance practices to promote consistency and quality.
  • Organize, structure, and improve documentation within knowledge management systems to enhance discoverability and usability for internal users.
  • Manage the documentation lifecycle, including creation, review, approval, publication, version control, and periodic updates.
  • Continuously identify and implement opportunities to automate and improve documentation workflows using AI technologies and other digital tools.
  • Ensure all documentation remains current and aligned with product releases, feature updates, and process changes.
  • Contribute to improved internal user satisfaction by delivering documentation that is clear, user-friendly, and tailored to audience needs.
  • Support quality and compliance efforts by ensuring documentation meets internal standards and applicable industry expectations.
  • Track and support success metrics such as documentation quality, efficiency gains from AI usage, and reduction in review cycles.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of professional technical writing experience.
  • Proven experience using AI tools to improve documentation development and editing workflows.
  • Strong understanding of prompt engineering and best practices for generating high-quality technical content with AI.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of commitment to accuracy and consistency.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and editing for procedures, work instructions, forms, templates, and guidance documents.
  • Experience with AI-assisted content creation, including drafting, summarization, and content organization.
  • Hands-on experience with documentation lifecycle management, including version control and governance.
  • Knowledge management experience, including organizing and maintaining documentation in knowledge management systems.
  • Familiarity with version control practices and tools used to manage documentation updates.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in an aerospace or similarly complex technical environment.
  • Experience or familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts and their application to content development.
  • Experience developing and maintaining style guides, templates, and documentation standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts in a remote environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple documentation projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Interest in continuous improvement and innovation in documentation processes, particularly through AI and automation.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced setting where documentation must align closely with ongoing product releases and updates.

Work Environment

This role operates in a 100% remote work environment, providing flexibility and autonomy while collaborating with distributed teams. Standard working hours are approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility on start and stop times to accommodate coordination with a manager based in the Pacific Time Zone. You will work in a digital-first setting that relies on modern collaboration tools, knowledge management systems, and AI-powered platforms such as Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies. The environment emphasizes high-quality technical documentation, efficient workflows, and continuous improvement within an innovative aerospace supplier context.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
