Description

The Engineering Technical Writer develops clear, accurate documentation to support manufacturing and assembly operations. This role partners with design, manufacturing, and production teams to translate engineering drawings, CAD models, and build knowledge into effective work instructions and production documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks), BOMs, and specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to capture assembly processes, tooling, and quality checkpoints
  • Create and maintain build instructions, manufacturing instructions (MIs), and work instructions
  • Update documentation based on design changes, production feedback, and process improvements
  • Incorporate visuals (photos, diagrams, exploded views) to improve usability
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing documentation alongside builds
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain document control and revision history per quality standards
  • Leverage tools (video, digital platforms, AI) to improve documentation efficiency

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Technical Writing, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to understand both system-level and assembly-level requirements
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings; SolidWorks experience preferred
