Title: Writer / Editor

Pay Rate: $50 - 60/hr

Location: Remote

Job Description:
  • Develop, write, and edit technical documentation, including user guides, manuals, FAQs, SOPs, and API documentation.
  • Design and create engaging instructional materials such as e-learning modules, training manuals, video tutorials, and interactive content.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and product managers to translate complex information into easy-to-understand materials.
  • Utilize instructional design principles and methodologies to develop effective training programs.
  • Conduct needs assessments and audience analysis to determine the best instructional strategies.
  • Develop assessments, quizzes, and interactive learning activities to enhance knowledge retention.
  • Ensure documentation and training materials adhere to industry standards, accessibility guidelines, and branding requirements.
  • Maintain and update existing documentation and training materials based on product updates, user feedback, and evolving requirements.
  • Manage content repositories and version control to ensure consistency and accessibility.
  • Use authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, or other e-learning software.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to integrate visual elements that improve comprehension and engagement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Instructional Design, English, Education, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing and instructional design.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models such as ADDIE, Bloom's Taxonomy, or SAM.
  • Proficiency in tools like Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, MadCap Flare, or similar.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and SCORM compliance.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and Markdown is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a bonus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in software, IT, or engineering industries.
  • Knowledge of API documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, or OpenAPI.
  • Experience creating microlearning content or gamified learning experiences.
  • Certification in Technical Writing, Instructional Design, or e-Learning development is a plus.
