Technical Writer

The Technical Writer is responsible for authoring and maintaining documentation for the Command and Control Processor program. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by developing standardized documentation templates across the C2P project, working hand-in-hand with the Configuration Management team to ensure that CM standards are upheld, and updating documentation as new project capabilities are realized. This position will directly impact program usability through delivering comprehensive user-friendly Software User Manuals and play an important role in providing other documentation to program stakeholders.CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITESAble to perform the following, with some supervision:Create, review, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and API documentationCollaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product managers to gather and understand complex technical informationTranslate technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for diverse audiencesDevelop and implement content strategies to improve overall documentation quality and user experienceManage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standardsConduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback to enhance documentation effectivenessMaintain and update internal documentation libraries and knowledge basesSKILLS & ABILITIESHas a basic knowledge of:Writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detailDocumentation toolsVersion control systems and collaborative writing platformsProject management and organizational skillsInterpersonal and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaborationComplex technical concepts and explain them clearly to non-technical audiencesImage manipulation using Microsoft Visio or PhotoshopLinux operating systemsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONSGED and/or equivalent years of experienceTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS General office environmentComputer/Equipment lab PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMay be expected to lift up to 25 lbsFrequent use of keyboard and typingFrequent sitting and standingWORK SCHEDULE9/80The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.PAY RANGE$80,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually, DOEU.S. Citizenship is RequiredSECURITY CLEARANCECandidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required.
