Overview:

LABUR is partnering with a client to elevate operational efficiency and knowledge sharing by transforming fragmented process documentation into a unified, accessible resource. This engagement centers on consolidating, revising, and expanding internal system overviews, ensuring that every team member has the clarity and tools needed to onboard quickly and work effectively. By embedding a skilled Technical Writer, LABUR is helping the client bridge gaps in communication, streamline complex processes, and empower teams with accurate, easy-to-use documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit, consolidate, and organize existing process documentation and system materials from multiple sources.
  • Revise and standardize documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with current workflows and tools.
  • Develop new process documentation, system overviews, and reference materials where gaps exist.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs), technical teams, and business stakeholders to gather and validate information.
  • Translate complex technical concepts and workflows into clear, user-friendly documentation.
  • Create and maintain documentation outlines, templates, and style guidelines to ensure consistency.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with internal standards and best practices.
  • Support documentation version control and change management processes.
  • Recommend improvements to documentation structure, navigation, and usability.
  • Prepare materials to support onboarding, training, and cross-functional knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer or Documentation Specialist, preferably in an internal-facing or systems-focused role.
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise written content.
  • Experience documenting business processes, workflows, and internal systems.
  • Excellent interviewing and information-gathering skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong editing and proofreading capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple documentation efforts and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency with common documentation tools (e.g., Word, Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown, or similar platforms).
  • Experience documenting enterprise systems, internal tools, or operational processes.
  • Familiarity with process mapping or workflow documentation.
  • Experience creating documentation templates, style guides, or information architecture standards.
  • Comfort working in fast-changing environments with evolving systems and requirements.
  • Organized, methodical, and comfortable bringing structure to ambiguity.
  • Collaborative and able to build trust with SMEs and cross-functional partners.
  • Self-directed with strong follow-through on documentation deliverables.
  • Able to balance precision with practicality for internal audiences.

Compensation:

$50 - $55 per hour - Dependent on fit and experience.
