SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Technical Writer for a on-site opportunity for candidates in Spartanburg, SC.Candidate will support a large-scale IT documentation and recovery initiative by creating, standardizing, and organizing authoritative technical content. The role will partner with IT subject-matter experts and leadership to strengthen documentation practices supporting cybersecurity, operations, recovery, and long-term organizational resilience.
Required Qualifications of the Technical Writer:

- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional technical-writing experience in complex IT or technology environments.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Word and SharePoint, along with Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visio for technical diagrams, workflows, process maps, and supporting visuals.
- Demonstrated experience developing SOPs, runbooks, system documentation, operational procedures, knowledge articles, or similar technical deliverables.
- Excellent editing, proofreading, information-architecture, document-organization, formatting, and quality-control skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate directly with technical SMEs across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, service delivery, or related IT disciplines.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts and SME knowledge into clear, accurate, user-focused documentation.
- Experience establishing consistent documentation standards, templates, naming conventions, version control, metadata, and document lifecycle practices.
Preferred Skills/Experience of the Technical Writer:
- CPTC, ITIL Foundation, or comparable technical-writing or IT certification.
- Experience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service-management environments.
- Background supporting documentation recovery, knowledge-management, or enterprise documentation-standardization initiatives.
- Experience administering SharePoint-based documentation libraries, templates, metadata, and lifecycle processes.
- Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, CIS, or other recognized IT/security frameworks.
- Experience working in government, public-sector, or highly regulated environments.
Responsibilities of the Technical Writer:
- Develop, maintain, and standardize technical documentation, including SOPs, runbooks, system and application documentation, infrastructure guides, support procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
- Create and maintain documentation covering incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, restoration, and operational recovery.
- Interview and collaborate with technical SMEs to capture complex technical information and convert it into accurate, practical documentation.
- Develop technical diagrams, workflows, process maps, and other visual materials using Microsoft Visio.
- Conduct document reviews, incorporate SME and leadership feedback, verify technical accuracy, and prepare materials for approval and publication.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to transform discovery findings, requirements, inventories, and process maps into complete, reusable documentation.
