What You'll Be Doing:
- Gather and analyze complex technical data from multiple sources to document new or updated product features.
- Write, format, and proofread high-quality documentation tailored for both technical experts and end-users.
- Test product tutorials to ensure all steps and images accurately reflect the current software.
- Design clear diagrams, charts, and figures to supplement written instructions.
- Leverage natural language AI tools to streamline workflows and increase documentation throughput.
- Create engaging 'how-to' video tutorials using tools like Camtasia.
- Prepare and complete work adhering to project goals and schedules.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by preparing product information that is useful, accurate, and user friendly.
- Collaborate with personnel from technical departments to resolve usability issues and information discrepancies.
- Ensure that all product information is reviewed and approved following quality assurance procedures
- Other job-related duties as assigned by management.
What You'll Need:
- Currently pursuing a master's degree in Professional Writing/Technical Writing, or a bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be enrolled full-time and returning to your degree program after the internship.
- Submission of a writing sample as part of your application.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player, responsible, and highly motivated.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate student in a Professional/Technical Writing program, or undergraduate Sophomore/Junior in a technical degree.
- Experience with technical writing or other published works (blogs, journals, literary magazines, etc.)
- Exposure to XML, HTML, Markdown, DITA, and/or DocBook mark-up languages.
- Experience with scripting languages.
- Familiarity with software development tools such as git or GitHub.
- Exposure to engineering simulation software (e.g., Ansys).
- Experience with Camtasia or other video-editing software.
