Job Description

(Maintenance Job Fair 11/13 10:00am-3:00pm, Stamford Division 26 Elm Court, Stamford, CT 06902)

Heavy-duty technician to perform maintenance on CTtransit's fleet of buses. Perform diagnosis, repairs and preventive maintenance to all Company Vehicles and Equipment.

Examples of Duties

  1. Three years full time experience as a heavy duty fleet mechanic

  2. Requires an individual with a stable work history

  3. .Proficiency in hydraulics, electrical systems, air-conditioning, air brakes and bus mechanical systems.

  4. Ability to quickly diagnose/correct mechanical and electrical problems, follow directions and work independently.

5.. Successful completion of the Basic DC Electricity, brake Level 1, steering/suspension training, and PLC training courses.

6..Operate buses on property and for road tests, also required to respond to service calls for breakdowns while buses are in service.

  1. Good verbal skills and ability to work with other employees

  2. Good written and organization skills to complete & maintain forms and other documents

  3. Skills and ability to lead and direct a group of employees in all phases bus repair

  4. Tire Safety Training TIACTS Lever 200, AT3; Advanced Tire Technician

  5. All other duties as directed by the crew leader or supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three years full time experience as a heavy-Duty Fleet Mechanic (diesel preferred).
  • Have the necessary Skills and tools to perform general repairs to all Company vehicles & equipment.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose & correct mechanical problems, follow directions & work independently.
  • Proficiency in hydraulics, electrical systems, air conditioning, air brakes and bus mechanical systems.
  • Successful completion of Basic DC Electricity, Brake Level 1, Steering/ Suspension training, and PLC training courses.
  • Valid Commercial Vehicle Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsements.
  • Good verbal Skills and ability to work with other employees.
  • Good written and organization skills to complete and maintain forms, manifests, MSDS sheets and other documents.
  • Skills and ability to lead and direct a group of employees in all phases of bus repair.
  • Tire Safety Training TIACTS Level 200, AT3; Advanced Tire Technician.
