Avionics Technician II - Shift A

Location: Kent, WA
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $36-$42/hour 
Duration: W2 Contract Opportunity
Work Authorization: Due to program requirements, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.

Position Overview

Join a team supporting the assembly, testing, repair, and evaluation of electrical and mechanical hardware used in advanced aerospace systems. In this hands-on role, you will support engineering, manufacturing, and production operations by building and troubleshooting flight hardware, avionics assemblies, wire harnesses, and mechanical systems. Work may be performed in laboratory, production, clean-room, and integration environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, modify, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Build and support hardware used in development, testing, and flight environments.
  • Fabricate, terminate, repair, and test wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Perform board-level work, soldering, rework, and component replacement.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Apply proper torque values to fasteners and hardware components.
  • Support inspection, certification, and quality verification activities.
  • Work directly with engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.
  • Apply and remove staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating materials.
  • Document work performed and support non-conformance resolution activities.
  • Maintain compliance with ESD, tool control, safety, and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace avionics, electronics manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with board-level assembly, soldering, and electronic hardware rework.
  • Experience fabricating and repairing cable and wire harness assemblies.
  • Familiarity with ESD-controlled environments and tool accountability practices.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Experience inspecting work to defined quality standards and specifications.
  • Experience with torque applications and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week with occasional overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in aerospace, launch vehicle, propulsion, or flight hardware assembly.
  • Experience with PCBA/CCA repair, component replacement, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards and aerospace workmanship requirements.
  • Experience with J-STD, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or 7711/7721 rework standards.
  • Experience with high-voltage systems, battery systems, or RF assemblies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and electronic manufacturing documentation systems.
  • Experience documenting and resolving non-conformances.
