The Technician, Field Operations – Enterprise & Business, is responsible for the installation, activation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fiber-based services for Enterprise and Small-to-Medium Business (SMB) customers. This role delivers high-quality connectivity solutions, including Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), Ethernet, VoIP, and other business services while ensuring exceptional customer service and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Install and activate Enterprise and SMB fiber services.
• Perform fiber splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Install, configure, and support customer-premise equipment (CPE), routers, switches, and VoIP equipment.
• Complete DIA, Ethernet, and managed service installations.
• Use OTDRs, power meters, and other test equipment to verify service quality.
• Troubleshoot service outages and perform repairs as needed.
• Work closely with the NOC, Engineering, and Customer Support teams during installations and service restorations.
• Maintain accurate work orders, documentation, and test results.
• Educate customers on services and equipment functionality.
• Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards.
Education and Experience requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in fiber optics are a plus. Minimum of six (6) months to two (2) years of experience in fiber optics, telecommunications, or field operations.
Knowledge of:
• Fiber splicing and testing
• OTDR and optical power testing
• Ethernet networking
• Routers and switches
• VoIP systems
• Enterprise customer environments
• Ability to read network diagrams and service orders.

While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind. Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time. Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 20 pounds as needed. Tolerate exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and uneven or slippery surfaces. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) during all applicable tasks.
Standard daily travel to assigned territories is required for this position (up to 30% of the time within a 10-mile radius).
