Summary:
Diagnoses and repairs units down to SRU and component levels using oscilloscopes, frequency generators, and circuit analysis.
Performs repairs on aviation units in compliance with FAA regulations and CMM requirements.
Disassembles, cleans, visually inspects, and reassembles parts ensuring tolerances meet specifications.
Solders connectors, wiring, and switches within IPC standards and performs wire splicing and crimping.
Troubleshoots and tests electrical/electronic components including switches, fuses, wiring harnesses, ARINC connectors, diodes, and LEDs.
Uses Digital Volt Meters (DVM) to measure voltage, current, resistance, and perform diode testing.
Operates oscilloscopes to analyze signals including frequency, peak-to-peak voltage, RMS voltage, noise, and distortion.
Reads and interprets schematics and unit block diagrams to isolate faults from LRU to component level.
Tests and evaluates capacitors, diodes, transistors, and other components using DVM and troubleshooting tools.
Performs soldering on through-hole and surface mount components with high quality and reliability.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
High school diploma or GED with three years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience levels vary: Tech I: 0-2 years, Tech II: 2+ years, Tech III: 5+ years, Tech IV: 8+ years.
FAA Repairman Certification required for Technician III and above.
Proficiency in using Digital Volt Meters (DVM) for voltage, current, resistance, and diode testing.
Working knowledge of oscilloscopes including setup and signal testing for electronic circuits.
Skilled in soldering connectors, wiring, and switches within IPC standards.
Experience with wire splicing, sleeving, and crimping tools for wiring harnesses and connector assemblies.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and unit block diagrams to trace issues from LRU to component level.
Knowledge of FAA regulations and understanding of CMM requirements.
