UCT is looking for a talented Chemical Process Technician IV to join us in Phoenix, AZ!
The Chemical Process Technician IV – CDI Operations performs advanced chemical cleaning, decontamination, inspection, and process verification activities supporting semiconductor chamber component refurbishment. This role serves as a technical leader within the CDI area, maintaining chemical tank chemistries, ensuring compliance with quality and contamination-control standards, approving process documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Advanced Process Operations
- Perform advanced chemical cleaning, stripping, etching, decontamination, coating preparation, and restoration processes on semiconductor chamber components.
- Operate and troubleshoot multiple wet process systems and cleaning lines with minimal supervision.
- Prepare, monitor, verify, and maintain chemical tank chemistries in accordance with approved process specifications.
- Conduct bath analysis, process checks, and chemistry adjustments to maintain process control.
- Execute specialized cleaning methods for customer-specific and technology-sensitive products.
- Support first-article, engineering, qualification, and R&D processing activities.
Quality & Inspection
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product compliance.
- Review, verify, and approve travelers, process records, test data, and Certificates of Analysis (CoA) when authorized.
- Identify process deviations, contamination risks, quality concerns, and nonconforming conditions.
- Escalate quality issues and participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to contamination-control protocols and customer cleanliness requirements.
Leadership & Training
- Serve as a lead technician for assigned CDI process lines and work cells.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and work direction to Technician I, II, and III team members.
- Assist supervisors with prioritization of workflow and daily production activities.
- Support onboarding and qualification of new technicians.
- Promote a culture of accountability, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Lean, 6S, Kaizen, and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist Engineering and Operations teams with process validation, troubleshooting, and productivity improvements.
- Recommend improvements to processing methods, chemical usage, workflow efficiency, and contamination reduction.
Safety & Compliance
- Safely handle, transport, store, and dispose of hazardous chemicals in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and company requirements.
- Maintain compliance with PPE, respirator, cleanroom, environmental health and safety procedures.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Maintain accurate process documentation and records required by UCT quality systems.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support packaging, preparation, and shipment of customer products as needed.
- May operate company vehicles for customer deliveries or site transfers when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of semiconductor component cleaning and restoration processes.
- Strong understanding of chemical processing, wet chemistry operations, and contamination control principles.
- Ability to understand and maintain complex chemical recipes and process parameters.
- Knowledge of quality systems, process documentation, and manufacturing controls.
- Experience reviewing and approving production documentation and test results.
- Ability to recognize process abnormalities and implement corrective actions.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead and influence others without direct supervisory authority.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing software systems.
- Experience collecting, interpreting, and documenting SPC data.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced production environment.

Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification, vocational training, or coursework in chemistry, manufacturing technology, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 5–7+ years of experience in semiconductor services, chemical processing, cleanroom manufacturing, precision cleaning, plating, coatings, or related technical manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with hazardous chemicals and regulated process environments.
- Experience performing advanced inspections and quality verification activities.
- Previous experience serving as a lead technician, trainer, or subject matter expert preferred.
Certifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain respirator certification.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Required to wear cleanroom garments, respirators, and other PPE.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning, scrubbing, masking, and inspection activities.
- Regular exposure to chemical processing environments and hazardous materials.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.
