Technician - Line Striping and Seal Coating

Position Overview
Appell Striping & Sealcoating is seeking a dependable, hard-working Technician to support our line striping and sealcoating crew. This is a hands-on field position for someone who takes pride in quality work, shows up on time, works well with a team, and is willing to learn the pavement maintenance trade.
The Technician will assist with daily jobsite setup, pavement preparation, line striping, sealcoating, crack filling, cleanup, equipment care, and overall production. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, can
handle physical work, and wants to grow with a professional pavement maintenance company.

Core Field Responsibilities
• Assist with line striping, sealcoating, crack filling, pothole repair prep, and other pavement maintenance services
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, tools, paint, sealer, cones, stencils, and materials
• Prepare jobsites by cleaning pavement, blowing debris, taping edges, setting cones, and organizing work areas
• Help measure, layout, stencil, and stripe parking lots according to Appell standards
• Apply sealcoat and support the crew with spraying, squeegee work, edging, and detail areas
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite from start to finish
• Follow directions from the Crew Leader, Foreman, or Manager during each project

Line Striping Responsibilities
• Assist with layout, measuring, chalk lines, stencil placement, and parking stall setup
• Operate or assist with striping machines as trained and approved
• Help complete ADA markings, arrows, fire lanes, curbs, stop bars, crosswalks, and other markings
• Keep lines clean, straight, consistent, and professional-looking
• Protect surrounding surfaces from overspray and maintain attention to detail
• Clean striping equipment, tips, guns, hoses, stencils, and tools after use

Sealcoating Responsibilities
• Assist with pavement cleaning, edging, crack prep, and surface preparation
• Support sealcoat application using spray systems, squeegees, brushes, and hand tools
• Help protect buildings, curbs, sidewalks, landscaping, drains, and concrete from overspray or sealer marks
• Set up and maintain cones, caution tape, barricades, and traffic control as needed
• Help monitor material use and avoid unnecessary waste
• Clean equipment, tanks, hoses, tools, and work areas after each job

Important
This is a field labor and technician role. The position requires outdoor work, physical effort, attention to detail, and flexibility during the busy season. Technicians may work early mornings, nights, weekends, and long shifts depending on weather, customer needs, and project schedules.

Equipment, Truck & Trailer Care
• Help keep trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and ready for work
• Report equipment issues, damaged tools, missing supplies, or safety concerns immediately
• Assist with daily loading, fueling, cleaning, and end-of-day organization
• Take pride in keeping Appell equipment looking professional on every jobsite
• Follow proper care procedures for striping machines, blowers, sealcoat equipment, and hand tools

Safety & Jobsite Standards
• Follow all company safety rules and jobsite instructions
• Wear required PPE including safety vest, gloves, eye protection, boots, and other gear as required
• Use cones, barricades, tape, and signs to help protect customers, vehicles, pedestrians, and crew members
• Stay alert around traffic, moving vehicles, equipment, wet sealer, paint, and jobsite hazards
• Keep a professional attitude with customers, property managers, coworkers, and the public
• Never leave a jobsite messy, unsafe, or unfinished without direction from a supervisor
