Who We Are:

The Locomotive Technology Center supports testing, certification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-horsepower diesel-electric locomotives.

Objectives of this Role:
  • Support testing, certification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-horsepower diesel-electric locomotives.
  • Ideal for individuals with mechanical or electrical aptitude who thrive in dynamic environments, working closely with engineers to gather data, solve technical challenges, and contribute to innovative solutions for the locomotive industry.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Constant safety awareness for you and your co-workers, and a willingness to point out safety concerns in real time and participate in solutions for a safe work environment.
  • Install, operate, and maintain test systems to measure temperatures, pressures, exhaust gas emissions, and other key engine and locomotive data.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical work on large diesel engines, alternators, power distribution systems, cooling systems, exhaust aftertreatment devices, and other locomotive components.
  • Assist in certifying locomotives to comply with EPA exhaust emissions regulations.
  • Monitor real-world locomotive performance in both lab and field conditions, ensuring accurate data collection and detailed documentation.
  • Work directly with engineers to design, modify, and optimize testing protocols, troubleshoot technical issues, and support R&D initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree or vocational training in a technical field preferred (mechanics, electronics, engines, etc.).
  • 2-5 years: Related or relevant experience working on industrial engines, power systems, or mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with diesel engines, industrial equipment, or heavy-duty machinery is a significant advantage.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
