Company Urgently Hiring Fire Sprinkler System Technician!!


Job Description


Perform onsite troubleshooting and repairs of fire sprinkler systems, identifying code issues and non-conformance issues.


Responsibilities


+ Perform routine visual inspections of fire sprinkler systems, including sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, control panels, and other components, to check for signs of corrosion, damage, obstructions, or malfunction.

+ Activate test valves to check water pressure and flow, ensuring proper operation of alarms and notification devices, and test sprinkler heads where appropriate.

+ Verify that sprinkler systems comply with relevant building codes and standards, including NFPA codes, local ordinances, and industry best practices.

+ Maintain detailed inspection reports documenting findings, including any identified deficiencies, necessary repairs, and recommendations for corrective action.

+ Communicate inspection results to building owners or property managers, explaining potential hazards, and providing information about required maintenance or repairs.

+ Perform re-inspections to verify that identified issues have been addressed and repairs completed properly.


Essential Skills


+ Thorough understanding of fire sprinkler system design, components, operation, and maintenance procedures.

+ Familiarity with relevant fire safety codes and standards, including NFPA codes.

+ Ability to identify potential issues, analyze findings, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

+ Meticulous observation skills to detect even minor damage or malfunctions in the system.

+ Clear and concise communication skills to explain technical details to building owners and management.

+ 1 to 3 years of experience with servicing and repair of fire protection sprinkler systems.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Backflow test and repair certification is a plus.

+ Ability to work with minimal supervision and paired with experienced technicians.

+ NICET I and NICET II certifications are beneficial.

+ OSHA 10 certification preferred.

+ 1-3+ years in fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, deluge, and pre-action).

+ Ability to read blueprints.

+ High School or Vocational training is a plus.

+ Working knowledge of fire pumps and underground sprinkler systems.

+ Understanding of NFPA and local codes (NFPA 13, 13(R), 13(D), 14, 20, 24).

Work Environment


Work on new construction projects throughout NJ. Hours are 7:00am - 4:00pm with a 1-hour lunch. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times, and all hand tools and physical certifications must be present. Overtime is offered on Saturdays, with double time for Sundays and holidays. On-call schedule is every other month.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, New Jersey.


Pay and Benefits


The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
