Technician

Summary:

• Shift: 8 hours during business hours, example would be (but not limited to) 7am - 4pm, 8am - 5pm
• Work Mode: Onsite
• Location: All company facilities, based at Parnassus

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarian or senior AHT with animal medications and examinations
• Conduct simple health assessments and report to veterinarian and/or senior AHT
• Assist with veterinary technical procedures under direct supervision, such as blood collection and animal anesthesia
• Assist with preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical areas, necropsy room, treatment areas, and surgical and other technical supplies
• Assist with animal husbandry duties as assigned
• Assist with animal necropsy and tissue collection
• Assist with records keeping and data analysis for company projects
• Other technical and administrative duties of similar complexity as assigned

Requirements:

• Experience in clinical animal work as a veterinary assistant or licensed veterinary technician
• Competence in health assessment, basic handling of various species, anesthesia monitoring and surgery assistance, intubation, injections, venipuncture, placement of IV catheters
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Understanding of the requirement to adhere to approved Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee protocols

Preferred Skills:

• Background in laboratory animal skills and knowledge in a medical direction
• Desire to progress in skills and knowledge in the lab animal setting
