Summary:
- Shift: 8 hours during business hours, example would be (but not limited to) 7am - 4pm, 8am - 5pm
- Work Mode: Onsite
- Location: All company facilities, based at Parnassus
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarian or senior AHT with animal medications and examinations
- Conduct simple health assessments and report to veterinarian and/or senior AHT
- Assist with veterinary technical procedures under direct supervision, such as blood collection and animal anesthesia
- Assist with preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical areas, necropsy room, treatment areas, and surgical and other technical supplies
- Assist with animal husbandry duties as assigned
- Assist with animal necropsy and tissue collection
- Assist with records keeping and data analysis for company projects
- Other technical and administrative duties of similar complexity as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience in clinical animal work as a veterinary assistant or licensed veterinary technician
- Competence in health assessment, basic handling of various species, anesthesia monitoring and surgery assistance, intubation, injections, venipuncture, placement of IV catheters
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Understanding of the requirement to adhere to approved Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee protocols
Preferred Skills:
- Background in laboratory animal skills and knowledge in a medical direction
- Desire to progress in skills and knowledge in the lab animal setting
