Technician VI

Role Overview

The Technician VI supports a Test Engineering laboratory environment by maintaining lab infrastructure, equipment, and processes. This role involves hands-on work with complex electronic assemblies, test fixtures, and lab systems, as well as collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair lab equipment and infrastructure as issues arise
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of DVT chambers and thermal test chambers
  • Upgrade, track, and manage lab infrastructure and assets
  • Maintain and update lab processes, policies, and procedures
  • Support manufacturing Test Engineering lab technicians
  • Assemble, test, verify, troubleshoot, and rework electronic prototypes
  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot test fixtures, cabling, and adapters
  • Perform failure analysis for contract manufacturers and field organizations
  • Assist with lab management duties, including system installation and procurement of lab supplies
  • Operate thermal test chambers, load products under test, and monitor test activities
  • Adhere to TL9000 practices in all job functions
  • Provide support to remote partners as needed; limited domestic or international travel may be required
  • Lift up to 45 lbs; occasional heavy material handling required

Qualifications (Required)

  • Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role working with complex electronic assemblies
  • At least 3 years of recent experience with lab equipment calibration, including budgets and purchase orders
  • At least 3 years of recent experience in asset tracking, budget planning, and lab processes and policies
  • Strong knowledge of basic electronics, including digital and analog theory
  • Excellent failure analysis and troubleshooting skills down to the component level
  • Strong solder rework skills, including fine-pitch SMT components
  • Proficiency with power and hand tools, including drills and wire crimping tools
  • Proficiency using test and debug equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, boundary scan tools, and inspection equipment
  • Working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows, and common productivity tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaborate across functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with document control systems, schematics, BOMs, ECOs, and Allegro viewing tools
  • Familiarity with Agile systems
  • Telecommunications product experience
