Description: In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Specialty Software Engineering. Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale, or longer-term Specialty Software Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented factors. Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables. Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a skilled FinOps Engineer to drive financial accountability, optimize cloud spend, and improve forecasting across our technology organization. This role provides hand on technical leadership for the FinOps function, focused on driving efficiencies, embedding cost accountability into engineering workflows, and leveraging automation and AI assisted insights to reduce technology spend at scale.

The role partners closely with Architecture, Engineering, and Finance to ensure cost is treated as a first class operational and design consideration.

Must Have Qualifications
•6-10+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering
•Hands on experience with Azure and GCP cost management, billing models, and optimization
•Experience managing and optimizing on prem or hybrid infrastructure costs
•Proven FinOps experience delivering:
oApplication level cost visibility, allocation, and chargeback
oIdentify optimization opportunities (rightsizing, reserved instances/savings plans, storage lifecycle, architectural efficiencies).
oBudgeting, forecasting, anomaly detection, and variance analysis
oMeasurable cost savings and efficiency improvements
•Strong automation and engineering capabilities, including:
oScripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent)
oBuilding automated guardrails, alerts, and remediation workflows
•AI assisted FinOps automation experience, such as:
oUsing AI driven insights or anomaly detection to identify inefficiencies and spend risks
oAutomating cost insight generation, recommendations, or remediation actions
•Experience implementing tagging, allocation, and governance standards at scale
•Ability to integrate cost controls into engineering pipelines and operational processes
•Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical cost drivers into business impact

Desired Qualifications
•Experience operating FinOps in large scale or multi cloud environments
•Kubernetes or container cost optimization experience
•Experience embedding cost as a non functional requirement (NFR) in architecture and design reviews
•Familiarity with third party FinOps or cloud cost management platforms
•FinOps Foundation certification or demonstrated applied FinOps maturity


MANAGER INTAKE CALL NOTES:
-FinOps is the #1 priority; candidate must already know FinOps and be a true expert
-Use of GenAI tools is expected, but as a tool within FinOps, not building or developing AI models
-This role is part of establishing a new FinOps function; FinOps has not been done previously
-FinOps Engineer will work very closely with Finance
-Strong focus on cost savings related to infrastructure, efficiencies, reporting, demand trends, and capacity planning
-Scope includes on prem and cloud infrastructure
-Heavy emphasis on infrastructure costs, usage patterns, and automation to detect, alert, and report on spend issues
-Engineering focused FinOps role supporting infrastructure services and consumer technology
-Will work closely with the CTO, infrastructure teams, and finance partners
-Must be a strong communicator
-Ability to create dashboards and present insights to executives and stakeholders is required
-Role will actively drive FinOps activity, not operate passively or purely in reporting mode
-Industry experience where FinOps is required is important
