  Job DescriptionJob Title: Technology AssistantDepartment: District WideReports To: District Technology CoordinatorFLSA Status: ExemptGeneral Statement of DutiesThe fundamental reason this classification exists is to operate, monitor, and evaluate the technology devices for the School District. The employee works collaboratively with the other members of the school system to use technology and include technology applications as an integral part of the total instructional program. Work is performed with considerable independence and judgment, subject to review based on results achieved, under the general direction of the Technology Coordinator.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministrative DutiesEnsure District compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, such as student data privacy and security regulations.Under the direction of the Technology Coordinator help to develop and enforce technology-related policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the appropriate and ethical use of technology resources.Work with the Technology Coordinator to develop and implement a comprehensive technology plan aligned with the District's educational goals and objectives.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff members.Support technology team towards their fulfillment of technological duties.Work in collaboration with the Technology Coordinator on program development.Work with the Technology Coordinator to conduct ongoing technology assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems and identify areas for improvement.Develop positive public relations in all avenues.Technological Duties Assist the Technology Coordinator in overseeing evaluation and selection of District technology purchases. (staff & student computers, educational software, networking infrastructure, etc.) Assist the Technology Coordinator in purchasing all District technology hardware and software assets. Assist in overseeing development and implementation of technology configurations. Assist in maintaining the District servers, LAN, WAN, computers, SIS, LMS, administrative software, e-mail, Internet and Intranet, and all peripherals functioning on a 24/7 basis. Work with Technology Coordinator to establish legal protection for the District by maintaining site licenses, warranties, etc. Provide on-site and remote technical support to teachers, staff, and students for hardware, software, and networking issues. Respond to and resolve technology-related help desk tickets in a timely manner. Work with Technology Coordinator to manage technology inventory, including procurement, network mapping, asset tracking, and equipment disposal. Assist the Technology Coordinator in providing training and support to teachers and staff on the effective use of technology tools, software applications, and educational technology resources. Work with Technology Coordinator to protect District data and networks by maintaining, updating, and implementing District cybersecurity policies and disaster recovery plans.Other Duties Compose, type, and maintain routine correspondence, reports, assessments, and various other materials and projects as requested by the Technology Coordinator. Ensure that school is a safe environment for the students and staff. Attend meetings, training, and seminars as deemed appropriate and necessary by Belle Fourche School District. Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies. Due to the nature of the duties and to promote the efficient operations of the District, it is necessary for the incumbent to work the assigned and scheduled shifts.Education and Experience Experience and expertise in computer systems, computer software, and network management. required or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable by the hiring authority.Ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with coworkers, public entities, educational professionals, etc. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight time schedules and deadlines, and handle significant problems and tasks, which come up simultaneously or unexpectedly. Experience with network infrastructure, especially wireless environments such as Ruckus. Experience with troubleshooting & maintaining Windows Server, Windows 10 & 11, Chrome OS, and iOS on tablets. Experience in educational technology integration, instructional technology, or a related field preferred,
