Job Description


A leading investment management organization is seeking a Technology Business Management & Analytics Lead to strengthen the operating capabilities of its Technology organization. This newly created position will partner closely with Technology leadership and Finance to improve visibility into technology performance, cloud consumption, financial trends, organizational effectiveness, and strategic investment.

The role combines Technology Business Management, FinOps, analytics, executive reporting, and operational improvement. The successful candidate will build meaningful KPIs and dashboards, investigate technology and cloud-cost drivers, support operating reviews, and turn complex operational and financial data into recommendations that senior leaders can act on.

This is not a traditional FP&A position. The individual must understand the Technology environment behind the financial information and be able to determine why costs are changing, whether investments are delivering value, and where utilization or operating practices can improve.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze Technology spending, forecasts, actual results, trends, risks, and underlying cost drivers.
  • Partner with Technology and Finance to improve budgeting, forecasting, and financial transparency.
  • Investigate material budget variances and explain their operational or technical causes.
  • Analyze cloud consumption and identify opportunities to improve utilization and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate compute, storage, data, commitments, architecture, and other cloud-cost drivers.
  • Develop KPIs that measure Technology performance, operational health, efficiency, and business outcomes.
  • Build scalable dashboards and executive reporting for recurring Technology operating reviews.
  • Translate technical, operational, and financial data into concise recommendations.
  • Connect Technology spending to strategic initiatives and measurable business value.
  • Partner with Engineering, Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, AI, Finance, and Procurement.
  • Evaluate utilization of technology platforms, cloud resources, software licenses, and vendor agreements.
  • Improve data quality, reporting automation, and operating-management processes.
  • Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and investment recommendations.
  • Present findings to senior Technology leaders and defend recommendations when appropriately challenged.
  • Apply modern AI tools to improve analytics, automation, reporting, and productivity.

Role Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in Technology Business Management, Technology Operations, FinOps, Technology Finance, Business Intelligence, Analytics, or a related technology-facing function.
  • Experience analyzing operational and financial information within a Technology organization.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets.
  • Experience analyzing cloud consumption, cloud costs, or Technology cost drivers.
  • Demonstrated experience designing KPIs, executive dashboards, and management reporting.
  • Ability to investigate cost changes and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of enterprise Technology environments, including cloud, infrastructure, engineering, security, and software platforms.
  • Experience partnering with Finance on budgets, forecasts, variances, or investment analysis.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience using modern AI/LLM tools to improve analytics, automation, reporting, or productivity.
  • Strong written, verbal, and executive-presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work onsite in Boston three days per week.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • AWS, AWS Cost Explorer, or comparable cloud cost-management experience.
  • Azure or GCP cloud financial-management experience.
  • Formal FinOps or Technology Business Management experience.
  • Power BI or Tableau.
  • Python.
  • Data modeling and reporting automation.
  • Investment-management or financial-services experience.
  • Technology-vendor and license-utilization analysis.
  • Procurement partnership experience.
  • Business-case development and ROI analysis.
