Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal to provide quality standards-based instruction in the area of Technology Education. Instruct students in using design applications, computer-aided drafting (CAD), or manufacturing to solve problems while also assigning projects that address real-world constraints. Assesses and encourages student progress; manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
Instruction and Curriculum
- Plan, develop, and implement a technology education curriculum that aligns with Indianas state standards and district guidelines.
- Teach students about various technological concepts, including design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.
- Use a variety of instructional methods, including hands-on activities, projects, and technology-based learning tools.
- Assess student learning through projects, tests, and other assessments.
Technology Skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in using design software, CAD software, and other relevant technologies.
- Teach students how to use these technologies effectively to solve problems and create solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in technology education.
Project-Based Learning
- Design and implement project-based learning activities that allow students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world contexts.
- Provide guidance and support to students as they work on their projects.
- Help students learn to deal with real-world constraints such as time and materials.
Classroom Management and Environment
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment.
- Manage student behavior and ensure that all students are able to learn effectively.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and staff to improve technology education programs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Additional Responsibilities
- May be responsible for maintaining and repairing technology equipment.
- May be involved in developing and implementing technology integration plans for the school or district.
- May provide professional development for other teachers on how to integrate technology into their classrooms.
Qualifications Profile
- Certification/License: Current Indiana license in Technology Education 5-12.
- Education: Bachelors from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
- Experience: Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
