Technology Education Teacher

Overview:

The School District of Altoona is currently accepting applications for a Technology Education Teacher with a start date of August 17, 2026. This position offers flexibility based on the qualifications, licensure, and strengths of the successful candidate and may be structured as either a Grades 6-8 or Grades 6-12 teaching assignment.

We are seeking an educator who is passionate about providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for future success. Applicants should possess expertise in designing and delivering rigorous, relevant, and differentiated instruction while effectively assessing student learning and providing accommodations to meet individual needs. Candidates should be comfortable integrating technology and industry-relevant practices into instruction. Depending on the assignment, courses may include opportunities to teach areas such as woodworking, metals, manufacturing, FabLab technologies, engineering design, Computer Science, coding, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other technology education pathways.

The successful candidate will communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues while fostering a safe, engaging, and student-centered learning environment. The ideal candidate understands the unique developmental needs of adolescent learners and is committed to helping students develop creativity, problem-solving skills, collaboration, and career readiness.

Our middle school serves approximately 400 students, where you would join a collaborative team of two Technology Education teachers. If structured as a Grades 6-12 position, you would also become part of the Technology Education team at Altoona High School, serving approximately 550 students alongside two additional Technology Education teachers. Across both schools, educators work collaboratively through Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to design engaging instruction, analyze student learning, and ensure all students are prepared for future success. Qualifications:

While a Wisconsin Technology Education (1220) license is preferred, applicants with other teaching license or individuals with significant technical expertise who are interested in pursuing teacher certification are encouraged to apply. The district is committed to finding the right candidate and will consider applicants who demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and passion necessary to excel in this role while completing the appropriate licensure requirements.

Applicants must be willing and able to teach students in Grades 6-8 or a Grades 6-12 assignment depending on licensure, experience, and the strengths of the successful candidate. Bilingual applicants may be given preference.
