Technology Specialist Level 1 JobID: 1980 Position Type: TechnologyDate Posted: 9/1/2026Location: Central Office Closing Date: Until Filled Additional Information: Show/HideTechnology Support Specialist Level 1 District JOB GOAL: The Technology Support Specialist Level 1 role is to support and maintain computer systems, desktops, peripherals, digital AV media systems and associated instructional, administrative and system software. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware, software and associated equipment while ensuring optimal system performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user support, training and assistance where and when required. The Technology Support Specialist Level 1 is responsible for providing first-level technical support and maintenance for district technology systems, including computers, Chromebooks, peripherals, audiovisual equipment, instructional technology, and associated software applications. The position responds proactively to submitted service requests and support tickets in a timely and professional manner, demonstrating initiative and a strong commitment to customer service. The Technology Support Specialist Level 1 diagnoses and resolves technical issues, assists end users with technology-related questions, and provides guidance and support to staff and students as needed. The individual is expected to monitor assigned work orders, communicate regularly with end users regarding the status of requests, and ensure that support issues are addressed promptly, accurately, and professionally. The Technology Support Specialist Level 1 works collaboratively with district technology staff to support network-connected devices, classroom technology, and district technology initiatives while delivering high-quality customer service. The position escalates complex technical issues to senior technology staff when appropriate and assists with district-wide technology deployments, technology refresh initiatives, and special projects as assigned. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that technology resources remain operational, accessible, and effective in supporting student learning, instructional delivery, and district operations. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and technology system installation procedures.2. Ability to lift, transport, and move heavy to moderately heavy equipment, including computers, peripherals, audiovisual equipment, and related technology devices.3. Related college coursework, technical school coursework, or equivalent training in technology-related fields.4. Documented training in computer hardware, software, networking, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.5. CompTIA A+ certification and networking certifications preferred.6. Successful experience in computer, device, and network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair preferred.7. College diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.8. Industry-recognized technology certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft, Google, Apple, or other relevant technology certifications preferred.9. Understanding of current operating systems, computer hardware, network-connected devices, associated peripherals, and software applications.10. Ability to inspect, assess, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair computer hardware, software, and network-connected systems.11. Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively.12. Knowledge of email systems, Internet technologies, Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), wireless networks, and related technology systems and operations.13. Work with end users to identify and deliver required technology support service levels. Provide technical support to staff and end users on technology systems, including digital audiovisual (AV) systems, software applications, computer operations, and related technology issues.2. Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, relocate, and troubleshoot end-user hardware, network-connected peripheral devices, and networking hardware.3. Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user software and network-related software applications.4. Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of technology-related issues for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including repair and replacement as needed.5. Receive, document, and respond to incoming calls, service requests, support tickets, and e-mails regarding technology issues, including hardware, software, and device-related problems.6. Support the development and implementation of new technology projects, technology initiatives, and hardware deployments.7. Assist in resolving technical issues involving Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), wireless networks, Internet connectivity, and related systems.8. Provide support for presentation and classroom technology setups as necessary, including laptops, projectors, screens, interactive displays, and related audiovisual equipment.9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware, software, equipment warranties, and service contracts, and assist with or oversee contract-based installations and services as assigned.10. When necessary, liaise with third-party technical support providers, contractors, and equipment vendors to resolve issues and coordinate services.
