POMPERAUG REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 15 MIDDLEBURY/SOUTHBURY TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
Position Summary The Technology Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the educational mission of Region 15 by maintaining, securing, and optimizing the school district's computer infrastructure, network systems, and software applications. Working under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, this position ensures reliable technical operations for staff and students while providing hardware and software deployment and support. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Infrastructure & Hardware Support Working closely with the Director of Information Technology to: Assist in supporting and maintaining the district wired and wireless network. Unbox, configure and distribute new technology devices such as desktops, laptops, chrome books, tablets, printer, classroom display etc. Manage and maintain Active Directory and Google systems. Utilize software imaging solutions for efficient hardware provisioning and bulk deployments. Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to update, upgrade, and repair district computer systems and infrastructure if directed. Repair district owned devices including desktops, printers, laptops and Chromebooks
Software Application Support Working closely with district administration and the Director of Information Technology to: Install, configure, and support various educational and administrative software applications across the district. Create, manage, and maintain user accounts, permissions, and security groups across various platforms and applications if directed. Provide responsive support to diagnose and resolve reported technical problems related to software applications, operating systems, and network connectivity with strong troubleshooting skills.
Committee Participation & Professional Contributions Regional Technology Committee: Actively participate as an engaged member of the Regional Technology Committee to evaluate current systems, share insights, and support strategic district technology initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, students, and vendors. Independence: Proven ability to work well independently, manage competing priorities, and complete technical projects efficiently with minimal direct supervision. Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) components. Solid understanding of Windows-based servers, workstations, and Active Directory. Familiarity with managing Google Workspace for Education Familiarity with PowerSchool Proficiency in Windows-based software imaging and deployment methodologies. Problem-Solving: Strong, methodical troubleshooting skills for diagnosing complex hardware, software, and network issues.
Required Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate from a two-year technical school. A college degree with a major in a computer-related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.) is strongly preferred. Experience: Previous professional experience working within an Information Technology department, preferably in an educational or public sector environment.
Supervision The Technology Specialist is supervised, directed, and evaluated daily by the Director of Information Technology.
