JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SPECIALIST
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelors Degree or higher
- Industry certifications preferred, such as, CompTIA A+, Network+,
Security+, Microsoft, Google, Apple, or equivalent credentials
- Professional experience in training, computer support, Help Desk
services, educational technology, cybersecurity, or a related technical
field; preferred experience in a K-12 school district
- 4-5 Years Experience supporting Windows computers, Chromebooks,
tablets, classroom displays, and common productivity applications;
preferred experience with Promethean displays, SMART Boards,
Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, mobile-device
management, ticketing systems, remote-support tools, or student-
information systems
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including phishing,
password security, multifactor authentication, account protection, and
data privacy
- Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners with
different levels of technical ability
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and
documentation skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, meet
deadlines, and collaborate with teachers, supervisors, administrators,
technical staff, and executive leadership
- Valid driver's license and regular access to a reliable vehicle for travel
between District schools and facilities
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S.
citizenship or legal resident alien status
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
JOB GOAL: Support the effective use of technology throughout the District. Provide
technology training and support to teachers, administrators, supervisors, and
other staff, while also providing Level 1 Help Desk assistance.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver individual, small-group, school-based, and districtwide technology training
for teachers, administrators, supervisors, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Train staff on the instructional use of Windows laptops, Chromebooks, Apple iPads, Samsung
tablets, Promethean displays, SMART Boards, classroom presentation equipment, and approved
educational applications
- Demonstrate how technology can support instruction, student engagement, assessment,
intervention, differentiation, collaboration, accessibility, and classroom management.

- Collaborate with instructional supervisors and administrators to identify training needs and align
professional development with District instructional goals
- Serve as a liaison among the Technology Department, instructional supervisors, school
administrators, and teachers
- Create presentations, quick-reference guides, video tutorials, frequently asked questions,
onboarding materials, and step-by-step instructions
- Provide new-employee technology orientation, follow-up coaching, office hours, classroom
support, and refresher training
- Promote digital citizenship, cybersecurity awareness, data privacy, phishing prevention, password
security, multifactor authentication, and responsible artificial intelligence use
- Assist with pilot programs, technology demonstrations, software evaluations, and testing of new
instructional tools
- Gather feedback, evaluate training effectiveness, and prepare progress reports or presentations for
Technology, instructional, administrative, and leadership meetings, including meetings with the
Superintendent when requested
- Provide Level 1 support for District-approved hardware, software, applications, accounts,
peripherals, and classroom technology
- Troubleshoot basic issues involving Windows devices, Chromebooks, iPads, tablets, interactive
displays, printers, scanners, user accounts, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, approved
educational software, connectivity, and conferencing equipment
- Create, update, document, assign, escalate, and close Help Desk tickets in accordance with
Technology Department procedures
- Refer unresolved, recurring, security-related, network-related, or advanced issues to the
appropriate Technology Department staff member or vendor
- Direct staff to submit support requests through the approved Help Desk system; direct assistance
does not replace the ticketing process
- Provide immediate assistance when technology interrupts instruction, testing, presentations, or
critical District operations, and document the incident afterward
- Assist with device preparation, deployment, collection, inventory, tagging, configuration, updates,
basic maintenance, summer projects, and testing support
- Recognize and report suspicious emails, unauthorized applications, compromised accounts,
unusual device activity, or other cybersecurity concerns
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned by the Director of Technology/Superintendent
Physical and Operational Requirements
The employee may be required to travel among District locations, remain seated or standing for extended
periods, move or demonstrate technology equipment, and lift equipment weighing up to approximately 40
pounds with assistance when necessary. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required
for scheduled training, deployments, District events, emergencies, or special projects.
TERMS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Twelve (12) month year.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Hillside Board policies and procedures.
