Description
A Technology Teacher responsible for teaching Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses provides engaging, hands-on instruction that develops students' skills in engineering, computer science, design, and technology. The teacher fosters innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and real-world application of STEM concepts.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver PLTW curriculum aligned with program requirements and learning standards.
Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences that promote student engagement and inquiry.
Teach concepts related to engineering design, computer science, automation, robotics, and emerging technologies, as applicable.
Integrate technology tools, software, and equipment into daily instruction.
Assess student learning through projects, presentations, performance tasks, and other formative and summative assessments.
Maintain a safe, organized, and productive laboratory/classroom environment.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, administrators, and industry partners to support student success.
Encourage creativity, teamwork, communication, and career readiness skills.
Participate in PLTW professional development and maintain program certification requirements.
Qualifications
Valid teaching certification in Technology Education, STEM, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Knowledge of PLTW curriculum and project-based learning methodologies.
Experience using engineering design processes, coding platforms, robotics systems, and other technology-related tools.
Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and preparing students for college and career pathways in STEM fields.
