General Description

Thisposition is responsible to participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of system(s) to monitor and control networked audio visual equipment located on the main campus and satellite campuses. The Technology Technician will provide assistance in planning, installation, delivery, setup, operational training and technical support of audio visual equipment to the College faculty, staff and clients for use in classrooms, meeting rooms or event venues on campus.

Minimum Education/Experience

High school diploma/GED

Minimum (1) year of work experience, or it's part-time equivalent,working with and maintaining media equipment, digital media technologies, and audio visual equipment and systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge:Knowledge of electronics, telecommunications, audio and video equipment, and personal computer hardware and software

Thorough understanding of audio/video signal types and related signal routing and configuration from multiple sources and formats for equipment setup in mobile and dedicated venues

Digital Audio & Video standards

Basic information system networking principles

Knowledge and experience providing hardware and software installation & support for PCs, laptops, & mobile devices utilizing windows, oSX, iOS, or android operating systems

Knowledge and ability to provide basic diagnostic, troubleshooting, and resolution of AV equipment issues in classrooms, meeting rooms, and event venues

Knowledge of industry standards for audio visual equipment and systems installation including safety and structural integrity

Skills:Attention to detail

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is medium work which requires the person in this position to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

The position requires the person to lift and move equipment weighing up to eighty (80) pounds.

This position requires the person to stand for long periods

This position requires the person to push/pull up to 40 pounds

This position requires the person to use their visual ability to correctly calibrate projectors or displays.

Work is performed in a relatively safe and secure office work environment.

Work is performed in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm to co-workers or others.

Work is performed during office hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum (2) years' experience working with and maintaining professional/conference style audiovisual systems and computer system hardware and software, preferably work experience with VMIX, Q-Sys, and/or Crestron Technologies.

A+ Certification and Network+ Certification.

Required Training

Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution

Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm

Evenings and weekends as necessary

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Provide technical and operational assistance as well as individual and group training to faculty and using audio visual equipment in classrooms.

Create media for assistance with training and support for classrooms to distribute internally for Technology Support Services (Help Desk) and externally in the classrooms.

Coordinate with campus organizations, staff and off-campus clients to determine audio visual needs and optimum physical arrangement of equipment for on-campus events.

Develop, monitor, and maintain system(s) to monitor and control networked audio visual equipment in classrooms and event venues.

Perform, support and provide technical and/or operational assistance for multi-source audio and projection setups for on-campus events including mixing live sound and images from multiple sources.

Provide instruction and consultation to users on the selection of equipment and proper operation and maintenance of various equipment systems.

Provide basic presentation software support/assistance to faculty, staff, students or off-campus clients using equipment in classrooms or campus event venues.

Perform hardware and software installation, basic trouble shooting and maintenance to computers used in classrooms, event venues and meeting rooms.

Clean, store and perform routine equipment maintenance insuring all equipment is operational.

Maintain inventory of audio visual equipment including reporting missing or inoperative equipment to the Director of Technology Support Services.

Keep abreast of recent and future innovations in campus and classroom technologies.

Perform related work as required.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
