Position Specific Description


This individual contributor position reports to a functional team within the Transmission & Substation (T&S) Technology organization and provides project management and technical support for distribution facilities and grid control systems. The role is responsible for transmission and distribution modeling of power system equipment for grid control applications within the GE/Alstom Energy Management System (EMS), as well as maintenance and development of situational awareness displays for operators and dispatchers. The position provides critical support for Distribution Grid Automation initiatives including Smart Grid developments, field energization activities, and commissioning of grid automation equipment such as Automatic Feeder Switches (AFS) and Fault Current Indicators (FCIs). Acting as a single point of contact for projects in the service territory, this role requires independent decision-making regarding engineering complexities and methods, applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles to a broad variety of assignments in both new construction and maintenance activities.


The successful candidate must maintain strict compliance with NERC CIP standards and cyber security protocols for Grid Control Systems, follow established cyber security processes for all EMS access, changes, and maintenance activities, and participate in cyber security training and incident response procedures as required. This position requires proactive and reactive communication pertaining to project scope until customers are ultimately satisfied, serving on functional area Callout rotation as primary contact for troubleshooting, incident response, and critical operational processes, maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external customers, and executing work plans efficiently to meet or exceed project objectives. The candidate must be highly knowledgeable and proficient in the design of the Distribution System and grid control applications.


Job Overview


Employees in this position will be assigned to a functional team within the business unit technology group performing technical or administrative tasks for one of the following: grid monitoring and control systems, Emerging Technology, compliance-related support, and business support functions (e. g., procurement, payment processing, etc.).


Job Duties & Responsibilities


+ Executes assigned technical and administrative activities such as budget tracking, processing and payment of communication circuits costs

+ Procures system hardware components and tracks inventory

+ Performs audits and spot check preparations

+ Ensures cyber security and protection processes are compliant to national/regional standards

+ Performs inspection plans and/or condition assessment processes

+ Executes application/infrastructure processes and/or workflows

+ Attends training and/or workshops to improve competencies

+ Supports and executes the requirements of FRCC Reliability Coordinator Operations per FPL/FRCC Agent Agreement related to the FPL System Control Center (SCC)

+ Ensures compliance to the NERC Reliability Standards, FERC Standards of Conduct, and applicable FERC Orders

+ Meets attendance and storm duty requirements and has the ability to work extended hours

+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned
