YOUR IMPACT
The Teen Group Leader is a dedicated and enthusiastic individual responsible for guiding and mentoring a group of teens and tweens in out-of-school time programs. Reporting to the Teen Program Coordinator, the Teen Group Leader plays a key role in implementing engaging, educational, and recreational activities that support the academic and social/emotional development of youth. Regardless of primary assignment, this position may be required to travel between program sites as needed.
WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKE
No two days are the same in this role — but every day centers on creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where youth can learn, grow, build confidence, and feel connected.
- Lead and mentor a group of youth through engaging daily activities that support program goals
- Facilitate academic, recreational, and enrichment experiences using provided curriculum materials
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all participants can thrive
- Build caring, positive relationships that support youth growth and development
- Provide constant supervision to ensure participant safety and well-being
- Use positive behavior strategies to manage discipline, conflict resolution, and participant concerns
- Model respect, responsibility, healthy habits, sportsmanship, and positive behavior
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and coworkers to foster a culture of respect
- Use systems and software to track attendance, assessments, and program outcomes accurately
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-cared-for program spaces and equipment
- Attend trainings, team meetings, and communicate concerns to leadership promptly
- Follow YMCA policies, state regulations, and report safety concerns as needed

Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Monday -Friday 3:45 - 7:45 pm
$15.00 per hour
FUNDING SOURCE
ISBE, 75%, 10/7/25 - 6/30/26, Non-Renewable
CFNIL, 25%, 1/1/26 - 1/1/27, Non-Renewable
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age of 21 years old
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
- 1-year related experience of leadership in a childcare setting preferred
- Training required upon hire: Child Abuse Prevention, Blood-borne Pathogens, IL Gateways Child Development Health & Safety, IL DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect/Mandated Reporter. Any additional certifications that are required by the state of Illinois
- Current Praesidium Academy training
- CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications required within 90 days
