Telecom Expense Management Analyst

Responsibilities:

• Support the company's Leased Circuit Strategy Initiative to reduce annual O&M wireline spend by analyzing inventory for disconnect, migration, or contractual reductions.
• Review wireline/network diagrams and collaborate with IT Network Specialists to validate circuit usage or explore technological alternatives.
• Invoice Auditing & Cost Control: Work with TEM provider to review telecom wireline invoices, identifying billing inaccuracies, overcharges, and unused services.
• Expense & Budget Management: Develop and maintain budget tracking, forecasting, and variance reporting. Support month-end activities, including chargeback processing and vendor accruals.
• Vendor & Contract Management: Work with TEM provider to review telecom contracts, compare funding against actual spend, and liaise with vendors to resolve discrepancies and negotiate better rates.
• Asset & Inventory Tracking: Maintain accurate telecom inventory tracking, ensuring alignment between internal systems and carrier databases.
• Reporting & Analytics: Generate and update reports to communicate spending trends, KPIs, and cost-saving recommendations to leadership.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to streamline telecom expense workflows and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field. 5 years of experience with TEM in lieu of a degree.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Telecom Expense Management, IT financial analysis, or telecommunications operations.
• Analytical Skills: High-level proficiency in data manipulation and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, or Power BI.
• System Knowledge: Familiarity with TEM software platforms (e.g., Tangoe, TEOCO, Sakon).
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to translate complex telecom data into simple terms for cross-functional teams like Finance and Procurement.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience within the telecom industry, specifically dealing with carrier billing and tariff structures.
• Understanding of network wiring diagrams.
• Advanced data analytics proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas) and experience utilizing data visualization or Business Intelligence tools.
