Telecom Systems Administrator

Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Telecom Systems Administrator to oversee enterprise telecom infrastructure, including voice systems, WAN circuits, and ISP/vendor relations.
This role involves managing WAN circuit provisioning, upgrades, terminations, and procurement, ensuring seamless connectivity and compliance with U.S. telecom regulations (e.g., FCC, E911).
The candidate will also handle purchase order (PO) processing for telecom services and optimize costs while maintaining high service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Telecom & WAN Circuit Administration Manage, configure, and maintain VoIP, PBX, SIP trunks, and Unified Communications systems. Oversee WAN circuit provisioning, bandwidth upgrades, and circuit decommissioning with ISPs. Monitor MPLS, SD-WAN, DIA, and broadband services to ensure uptime and performance. Work with local and national ISPs (e.g., Telecommunication, CenturyLink, Comcast, Telecommunication, Lumen, Cox) for circuit orders and issue resolution. Troubleshoot VoIP, SIP, call quality (QoS), jitter, and latency issues.
2. Purchase Order & Vendor Management Handle the end-to-end Purchase Order (PO) process for telecom services and circuit procurement. Work with finance and procurement teams for budget planning and cost approvals. Negotiate vendor contracts, SLAs, and service pricing to optimize telecom expenses. Track invoices, renewals, and billing disputes with ISPs and telecom vendors.
3. WAN Circuit Lifecycle Management Coordinate new circuit installations, upgrades, and migrations with internal teams and ISPs. Ensure compliance with U.S. telecom laws (FCC, E911, CALEA, STIR/SHAKEN). Maintain an updated inventory of active and decommissioned circuits. Implement failover, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies for WAN circuits.
4. Troubleshooting & Performance Monitoring Use network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Cisco Prime, ThousandEyes) for real-time analysis. Identify and resolve packet loss, jitter, VoIP call drops, and network outages. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for telecom disruptions and implement proactive measures.
5. Documentation & Compliance Maintain detailed records of circuit orders, network diagrams, SLAs, and vendor contacts. Ensure E911 compliance and telecom security policies are followed. Document troubleshooting guides, cost-saving initiatives, and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or a related field. < >+ years of experience in telecom administration, VoIP, and WAN circuit management. Experience in purchase order processing, vendor contracts, and procurement workflows. Strong knowledge of WAN technologies (MPLS, SD-WAN, BGP, QoS, VPNs, SIP, RTP, STP). Hands-on experience with telecom vendors (Cisco, Avaya, Mitel, Alcatel-Client, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, etc.). Familiarity with U.S. telecom regulations (FCC, E911, STIR/SHAKEN, CALEA). Ability to work with Arizona-based ISPs and telecom providers for service provisioning and escalations. Strong documentation and reporting skills for telecom assets, budgets, and performance tracking.
