About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established low voltage contractor supporting commercial construction and infrastructure projects throughout the Austin market. You ll be working on structured cabling systems that power data, voice, security, and network systems in real-world environments.
Telecom technicians are responsible for installing and maintaining cabling systems like CAT6 and fiber, building network infrastructure, and ensuring connectivity across job sites.

Open Positions
Entry Level Helpers (Low Voltage)
Learn structured cabling from the ground up
Assist with cable pulling, labeling, and basic installations
Work alongside experienced technicians on active job sites
Gain hands-on experience with tools, lifts, and materials
Level I II Telecom Technicians
Install, route, and terminate CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber cabling
Build out IDF/MDF closets and install racks, patch panels, and pathways
Read prints and follow cable pathways
Perform basic testing and troubleshooting
Level III / Lead Technicians
Lead crews and manage day-to-day project execution
Handle advanced terminations, testing, and certifications
Read blueprints, plan cable paths, and coordinate with project teams
Oversee quality, production, and job site safety

What You ll Do
Pull, route, and terminate low voltage cabling (CAT6, fiber, coax)
Install cable support systems like J-hooks, ladder racks, and conduit
Build and dress telecom rooms and network closets
Test and troubleshoot cabling systems
Work on commercial job sites including offices, schools, and tech facilities
(These are core industry responsibilities for telecom techs working on structured cabling systems.)

Qualifications
Helpers:
0 6 months experience or strong mechanical aptitude
Willingness to learn and work in construction environments
Technicians:
1 4+ years of structured cabling experience
Experience with terminations, pathways, and cable installation
Ability to read prints is a plus
Lead Techs:
5+ years experience
Proven leadership on commercial projects
Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills

Compensation & Benefits
Helpers: $18.00 $20.00/hr
Technicians: $20.00 $28.00/hr
Lead Techs: $28 $35+/hr (depending on experience)
