Telecommunications BIM Designer

Contract-to-Hire Opportunity – Tempe, AZ

Our client is seeking a talented Telecommunications BIM Designer to support complex projects that enable the critical infrastructure behind today's advanced businesses. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented BIM professional with strong Revit experience and a background in telecommunications design who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.

The Telecommunications BIM Designer will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing Revit BIM models while supporting the creation of accurate construction documentation. Working under the guidance of telecom discipline leads, this position will help transform design concepts into coordinated, constructible deliverables while ensuring compliance with project standards and client requirements.

Using Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and related design tools, the BIM Designer will create and manage 3D models, coordinate across multiple disciplines, support clash detection efforts, and produce detailed 2D construction drawings. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical curiosity, and the ability to collaborate with designers, engineers, architects, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and maintain telecommunications BIM models using Revit.
• Create and update 3D models and 2D construction documentation for telecom systems.
• Coordinate BIM models with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology teams.
• Perform model reviews and assist with clash detection using Navisworks.
• Create accurate design deliverables based on project requirements, markups, and direction from senior designers and engineers.
• Follow established BIM standards, modeling procedures, and client-specific requirements.
• Support design coordination efforts to ensure models are accurate, complete, and constructible.
• Assist with development and organization of Revit content and project documentation.
• Review drawings and models for accuracy, consistency, and quality.
• Communicate effectively with project teams regarding design progress, challenges, and technical requirements.
• Estimate design and modeling hours required based on project scope, markups, and verbal instructions.
• Continue developing knowledge of telecommunications systems, design standards, and construction practices.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of Revit BIM design experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecommunications systems design and/or the construction industry.
• Experience working with Navisworks.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Understanding of telecommunications cabling, wiring connections, circuits, and equipment links.
• Ability to interpret design drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with client design standards and BIM modeling requirements.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar markup/review software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Revit MEP design experience.
• Experience designing within semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or high-tech facility environments.
• Experience with telecommunications systems including:
  • Paging systems
  • Intercom systems
  • Audio/visual systems
  • Structured cabling systems
  • Security systems
  • Access control systems
  • Closed-circuit television (CCTV)
  • Fire alarm and life safety systems
• Knowledge of control systems, network components, and network topology.
• Familiarity with multidisciplinary BIM coordination processes.
