Telecommunications Engineer (RCDD)

Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
Locations: Overland Park, KS | Denver, CO | Arlington, VA
Onsite: 5 Days per Week

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Engineer (RCDD) to join a growing team supporting critical federal infrastructure and communications projects. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers the chance to lead telecommunications and ICT system designs for complex government facilities and mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, and low-voltage systems design, along with the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead telecommunications and communications systems design efforts and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed system designs, including design drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical analyses.
  • Coordinate with BIM/CAD designers to support drawing development and project deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews and independent technical evaluations of engineering deliverables.
  • Manage assigned project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineering staff.

Additional Responsibilities May Include

  • Conduct site assessments and field investigations.
  • Prepare technical assessment and evaluation reports.
  • Assist in the development of design standards, templates, and engineering guides.
  • Support proposal development, client presentations, and business development activities.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal project requirements.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer ( RCDD) certification required.
  • Minimum 4 years of telecommunications systems design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, and BICSI standards and best practices
    • Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems
    • Low-voltage and telecommunications infrastructure
    • Structured cabling systems and installation practices
  • Experience designing Inside Plant (ISP) telecommunications systems, including:
    • Telecommunications rooms and spaces
    • Pathways and cable routing
    • Copper and fiber optic cabling systems
  • Ability to perform technical reviews and manage multiple project priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing Outside Plant (OSP) copper and fiber optic communication systems.
  • Audio-Visual (AV) systems design experience.
  • Certified Technology Specialist Design ( CTS-D) certification.
  • Experience supporting federal, defense, or government facility projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineering and design staff.
