Overview:
Coordinates with customers, consultants, and contractors, to design, implement, and maintain the telecommunications network and provide technical support and analysis of user needs for the customization of network design to meet business needs.
Responsibilities:

- Coordinates daily operations of communication networks through configuring system hardware, programming system software parameters, recognizing, diagnosing, and correcting faults and failures in the functions and operations of vendor software
- Installs and troubleshoots failures on site controllers, data modems, personal computers, terminals, and printers used in data applications
- Interprets hardware and software diagnostic reports and trouble alarms and takes corrective action to prevent service degradation and/or failure
- Improves levels of service and reliability by recommending changes in network configurations, monitoring transmission circuits and correcting any non-standard performance
- Performs technical and analytical work in the planning, development, integration, utilization, or modification of telecommunications systems, facilities, services and procedures
- Participates in IT related projects; independently or as a member of a cross functional project team that supports the organizations strategic plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree in Information Systems, or related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) or more years of experience in providing installation, maintenance and support in networks and telecommunications or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of core VoIP concepts such as latency, jitter, delay, etc.
- Familiarity with QoS concepts, especially as applied to VoIP.
- Understanding of compression as it relates to VoIP, and the tradeoffs between various codec types.
- Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP and UDP protocols.
- Familiar with network diagnostic tools, to include but not limited to: traceroute, ping, ttcp/iperf, etc.
- Familiarity with DHCP scope options, and configuration of the same, especially on Windows Server platforms.
- Knowledge of packet monitoring tools, e.g. Wireshark, would be a plus.
- Ability to apply knowledge through analyzing, designing, organizing, and developing major programs, systems, and networks
- Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively communicate using excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage simultaneous assignments
