Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 2 years of Telemetry Float Pool experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).
• Travel experience is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Experience: Travelers must have 2-3 years of experience. Nurses must have experience with drips. Nurses must be able to read telemetry strips.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience with chest tubes preferred.
Special Requests: Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.
Unit Details: The patient population is very sick and high acuity and includes pneumonia, end-stage renal disease, post-cath-lab patients, respiratory distress, CHF, COPD, postsurgical patients, orthopedic patients, and cardiac patients. Patient ratios at St. John’s Pleasant Valley are 1:5 for Medical-Surgical, 1:4 for Telemetry, and 1:3 for DOU. Philips telemetry monitors are used; monitor technicians read strips and RNs sign off on them. Drips include amiodarone, Cardizem, and heparin; nurses do not titrate them. Patients may require BiPAP or CPAP. A hospitalist or intensivist is in-house; after hours, the hospitalist is on call and shared between St. John’s Regional and St. John’s Pleasant Valley. There is no IV team; respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available 24/7. The unit involves a lot of primary care nursing, and resources are very limited; nurses may be very busy. Support techs may be pulled to sit and may not always be available.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule (nights: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; days: Saturday and Sunday). One major and one minor holiday are required. Self-scheduling is available but not guaranteed.
Floating Requirements: The clinician is first to float every other weekend. Floating may include 3 North, 2 South, and St. John’s Pleasant Valley (2309 Antonio Avenue, Camarillo, CA 93010; 9 miles away) for Telemetry or Medical-Surgical assignments, and the Emergency Department for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry holds. At St. John’s Pleasant Valley, the ACU floats between Medical-Surgical and Telemetry; travelers will not work in DOU.
Facility holidays: 11/26/2026, 12/25/2026, 01/01/2027. Number of holidays allowed off: 1. Start assignment restriction: 14 days
