    Job Description

    Sentara CarePlex Hospital is seeking a compassionate and highly capable Registered Nurse (RN) for our Telemetry Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care to patients with various cardiovascular conditions, cardiac rhythm disturbances, and those requiring post-procedural monitoring. You will utilize advanced technological equipment to monitor vital signs, interpret cardiac rhythms, and respond to critical changes in patient conditions.
    Key Responsibilities
    • Patient Monitoring: Monitor and interpret EKG/telemetry output, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and respiratory rates to detect changes in cardiac rhythms or patient conditions.
    • Assessment & Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, conducting regular rounding checks to ensure safety.
    • Intervention: Administer medications, perform diagnostic tests, and provide emergency intervention as needed.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate patient files and electronic medical records (EMR).
    • Communication & Education: Educate patients and families on cardiac health, medications, and discharge instructions. Collaborate with doctors to report patient deterioration.
    • Teamwork: Collaborate with Patient Care Techs and interdisciplinary staff in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
    Required Qualifications
    • Licensure: Current, active RN licensure in the state of Virginia.
    • Experience: 18+ months of recent acute care/telemetry experience preferred, but new graduates may be accepted into the Sentara residency program.
    • Education: ADN, BSN, or MSN from an accredited nursing program.
    • Certifications: BLS required within 90 days of hire.
    • Skills: Proficiency in rhythm interpretation and critical thinking.
