Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech!

As a Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech you will performs clerical and receptionist duties and observes the cardiac monitors within a specific nursing unit. Transcribes physician orders and performs computer activities.  Consistent with the Mission of MercyOne, Vision of Patient Care Services, evidence-based standards of care, and established policies and procedures.  

Schedule:

  • 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE)

  • 6:00am - 6:30pm

  • Every third weekend and holiday rotation

General Requirements:

  • Clerical skills and ability to effectively utilize written and oral communications. 

  • Demonstrate ability to understand and follow directions. 

  • Demonstrates ability to interpret cardiac rhythm and operate monitor equipment. 

  • Record and report information such as vital signs, intake and output, weight, and any behavioral changes to appropriate supervisory personnel. 

  • Maintain, assemble, and organize equipment needed for a safe secure environment. 

  • Perform additional duties as requested such as transporting patients and obtaining medications, supplies, and medical records from other departments. 

  • Demonstrate a caring practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group. 

  • Demonstrate ability to impact change within your department and with other departments. 

  • Demonstrate skills as an effective team member. 

  • Respect the confidentiality of an individual or group, unless obligated to disclose under proper authorization or legal compulsion. 

  • Maintain a safe environment of care. 

  • Communicate care effectively: both verbally and written.

Education:

  • Must be 17 years of age. May be required to be 18 years of age in some areas. 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.  All Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to belong to the National Nursing Aide Registry. In certain areas, participation in the registry is required.   

  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter. 

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be  within 30 days of hire and every year thereafter.
