Telemetry Technician

Location: Long Island City, NY
Contract Duration: 9 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Hours: 38 Hours per Week (5 Days/Week)

Pay Rate:
Local Candidates: $38–$40/hour
Travel Candidates: $40–$50/hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Telemetry Technician to join a healthcare team in Long Island City, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong ECG monitoring and arrhythmia interpretation skills and be able to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac rhythm changes. This position plays a critical role in supporting patient safety through continuous cardiac monitoring and effective communication with the clinical team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous ECG/EKG monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
  • Identify life-threatening arrhythmias and escalate immediately
  • Notify nursing staff and physicians of critical rhythm changes
  • Initiate emergency code procedures and document cardiac rhythms during codes
  • Perform ECGs with proper electrode placement
  • Troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment
  • Monitor telemetry alarms and respond appropriately
  • Enter and verify physician orders in EMR system
  • Communicate lab results to clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate patient monitoring documentation
  • Ensure compliance with hospital safety standards
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams
  • Operate monitoring equipment safely

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Telemetry / ECG Technician training preferred
  • Prior experience in telemetry or monitor tech role required
  • Strong ECG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
  • Acute care hospital experience preferred
  • EMR system knowledge preferred
  • BLS Certification preferred
