Purpose

This position is responsible for performing skilled work in the operation and maintenance of audio-visual and computer equipment used in the internal inspection, inventory, and evaluation of the citys municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) and related stormwater lines.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate and maintain CCTV truck and equipment, including robotic cameras, to inspect stormwater systems
• Collect and record data related to inspections, including video footage, images, and reports in designated software.
• Manage traffic control and ensure site safety in accordance with project requirements and safety protocols.
• Obtain all utility maps and/or blueprints for daily work assignments.
• Service, clean, and maintain CCTV equipment and the assigned vehicle, performing minor repairs and reporting the need for major repairs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent, with two (2) years of work experience in sanitary sewer, stormwater, or wastewater treatment and some exposure to videotaping production; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history.

Work Schedule:7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Additional Requirements

Background investigation, including a supervised drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

Additional Information

Knowledge of City and department policies and procedures.

Knowledge of cameras and equipment used in the televising process.

Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection systems.

Skill in reading maps and blueprints.

Skill in the use of cameras, vacuum trucks, and line locators.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Standards

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Receives instructions from Senior Televising Technician. Maintains a safe work environment and may supervise Utilities maintenance workers.

GUIDELINES: Guidelines include OSHA regulations, city codes and ordinances, city and department policies and procedures, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied technical and maintenance duties. Different and varied processes and methods contribute to the complexity of the work.

SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to inspect and maintain department pipelines. Successful performance helps ensure a safe and healthy work environment and a safe water supply.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers and other department employees.

PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information and provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office and a wastewater treatment plant. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, machinery with moving parts, and occasional cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
