    Department Information

    The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) has 42 academic faculty, 30 research faculty and post-docs, approximately 100 visiting scholars and Tech Temps, and 27 administrative and technical staff.     Job Summary

    This position will be supporting the Finance Department in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The position will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Perform and coordinate administrative and financial support activities required by assigned faculty member(s) and associate research group(s). This position will interact on a consistent basis with: assigned faculty, research group.
    • Process purchasing requests for all materials/supplies and equipment in the accounting system.
    • Liaise with the financial office in coordinating oversight of sponsored, state, and foundation project activity. Attend quarterly meetings with faculty and the finance staff to review project activity.
    • Coordinate and process travel arrangements and hotel accommodations for new visiting research group staff.
    • Processes travel arrangements and hotel accommodations for assigned faculty, research groups, visitors, and speakers. Create and track spend authorizations and expense reimbursements.
    • Process GTF Foundation reimbursement requests, including supporting documentation.
    • Prepare outgoing packages for shipping. Track package activity/control inventory of incoming shipments.
    • Utilize P-Card to assist in vendor payments. Perform P-card reconciliation to verify that all P-card expenses in the accounting system.
    • Prepare classroom materials for faculty members. Schedule conference rooms and classrooms as requested
