Patient Responsibility Coordinator

Position Summary

The Patient Responsibility Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for individuals, families, and stakeholders throughout the funding and reimbursement process. This role is responsible for explaining benefit coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and financial responsibility while delivering exceptional customer service through phone, email, and text communication.

The majority of this position involves speaking with customers by phone, reviewing benefit information, answering questions, and helping individuals understand their available coverage options. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a high-volume communication environment, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable about health insurance concepts such as deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate benefit coverage and financial responsibility information to customers.
  • Explain coverage details, eligibility, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and reimbursement information.
  • Serve as a primary phone resource for individuals and stakeholders with questions regarding benefits and funding.
  • Review and analyze benefit information to identify available options and next steps.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of customer interactions and account activity.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries received by phone, email, text, chat, and other communication channels.
  • Utilize CRM systems, Microsoft Office applications, and internal databases to manage accounts and records.
  • Track and maintain departmental metrics related to productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and documentation requirements.
  • Support process improvements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve department goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience in healthcare, insurance, benefits administration, billing, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of health insurance terminology, including EOBs, deductibles, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable spending the majority of the day on the phone with customers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM systems, account management, or data entry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Position Details

  • Pay: $28.00-$31.25/hour ($58,000-$65,000 annual equivalent)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM CST
  • Location: Fully remote; equipment provided
  • Assignment: Contract position through December 14, 2026
