Client Overview:
Our client is a design-driven apparel company specializing in lifestyle products with a strong focus on quality, fit, and thoughtful product development. Their collaborative team works closely across design, technical design, and production to deliver consistently fitting, well-constructed garments. They are currently seeking a Temp Technical Designer to support the product development process from proto through production.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr - $35/hr

Position Overview:
The Temp Technical Designer will support the product development team by ensuring accurate fit, construction, and quality across proto, fit, and production samples. This role requires strong patternmaking knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with design, production, and external vendors in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of the Temp Technical Designer:
  • Review, measure, and evaluate proto, fit, and production samples to ensure accurate measurements, garment construction, quality, and overall fit.
  • Support Design teams by contributing to technical packages and evaluating garment construction and fit intent.
  • Represent company standards for consistent fit and proper garment construction across all product categories.
  • Communicate fit comments and development feedback to vendors in partnership with Design and Production teams.
  • Lead and facilitate fit sessions, providing clear, concise, and actionable feedback.
  • Document and communicate development updates through written reports, sketches, pattern corrections, and verbal communication.
  • Maintain fit standards, records, reports, and sample libraries.
  • Track sample status and manage development timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Participate in in-office fittings, milestone meetings, product development reviews, and approvals.
Required Experience/Skills for the Temp Technical Designer:
  • 5+ years of technical design experience within apparel or lifestyle products.
  • Strong patternmaking knowledge and fit expertise.
  • Experience reviewing and approving fit and construction across multiple sample stages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Temp Technical Designer:
  • Prior experience in technical design within apparel or lifestyle product categories.
  • Experience working in a collaborative hybrid environment.
  • Vendor communication and overseas production experience.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit consistency, and development timelines.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design.
