Description: EEG Technologists perform EEGs and assist Neurologists and Neuro Technologists with the performance of EMGs, clinic visits, and other clinical aspects of the department.
Responsibilities
Assists Neuro Tech with NCVs and other clinical aspects of the department.
Demonstrates working knowledge of neurology and electroencephalography.
Explains testing procedures for the EEG to the patient and family.
Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order. Makes appropriate adjustments to settings, etc., to obtain accurate results.
Obtains accurate and concise patient histories.
Prepares patients and equipment for requested examinations and performs EEGs according to standards of the laboratory, resulting in high-quality EEG exams.
Produces accurate and complete EEG reports with emphasis on clinical observations.
Recognizes, monitors, and/or eliminates artifacts and performs routine activation procedures such as hyperventilation.
Responds appropriately to patient emergencies and takes appropriate precautions to prevent patient infections.
Understands the effects that medications can have on EEGs.
Verifies MD orders by checking the written order & verifying patient ID.
