Temporary Accountant

We are partnering with a dynamic organization in the Grand Rapids area seeking a Temporary Accountant to support the accounting team during a period of transition and increased workload. This role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates who are immediately available and enjoy working in fast-paced environments.

The Temporary Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and assisting with reconciliation and reporting efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and accruals
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances
  • Maintain general ledger activity and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Prepare and review financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Assist with cleanup of backlog or incomplete accounting records
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1–5+ years of accounting experience (staff accountant or similar)
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, balance sheet and reconciliation processes
  • Experience supporting month-end close
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, or similar functions)
  • Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, or similar is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in a contract or interim accounting role
  • Exposure to multi-entity or high-volume environments

Pay Details: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
