Temporary Administrative Assistant (Long-Term Substitute)

Granby Public Schools is seeking a Temporary Administrative Assistant (Long-Term Substitute) to support the front office at Wells Road Intermediate Schoo. This temporary assignment is anticipated to begin in mid-August 2026 and continue for approximately 12 weeks.

This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming, organized, and efficient school environment for students, families, and staff. We are seeking a dependable, customer-service oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced school setting and is committed to providing exceptional support to our school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors at the front office.
  • Provide administrative support to the principal, including scheduling, correspondence, and calendar management.
  • Maintain student records and enter information using district systems, including PowerSchool.
  • Communicate professionally with families, staff, and community members.
  • Coordinate logistics for school events and activities.
  • Assist with attendance, transportation inquiries, and other daily front office operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive student and personnel information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an administrative assistant, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail) and student information systems (PowerSchool preferred).
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative office team.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

This is a temporary, full-time assignment covering an employee leave of absence. The anticipated duration is approximately 12 weeks beginning in mid-August 2026. Employment will conclude upon the return of the regular employee or as otherwise determined by the district.
